Crystaldex G25

classification:Dextran gel packing

G25 dextran gel does not require swelling and can be used directly in columns. It has high desalting efficiency, high protein recovery rate, and is inexpensive, making it suitable for small-scale use in laboratories.

Product Overview

Gel filtration chromatography (also known as molecular sieving) works on the principle that small molecules can pass through the pores of a porous gel, while large molecules cannot. Additionally, the time it takes for molecules to pass through the gel pores varies depending on their molecular weight and geometric shape, thereby separating samples of different molecular weights and structures. Crystaldex G25 utilizes gel filtration to remove salts, labels, and other small molecules (MW < 5000 Da) from nucleic acids, proteins, and other large molecules, or for buffer exchange.

The finer the dextran G25 resin particles, the higher the resolution and separation efficiency, making it more suitable for separation experiments involving molecules with similar molecular weights; desalting and buffer exchange typically use medium-sized or coarse-sized resin particles.
